Gerard is a trade union leader and activist in-charge of membership recruitment and services of the Associated Labor Unions (ALU), an affiliate of the Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP) and the Building and Woodworkers International (BWI), among other affiliations. He coordinates the trade union efforts to ban asbestos in the Philippines. He works with BWI and TUCP and seeks the guidance of international organizations to strengthen the campaign. GBAN will make this easier as the network pools the knowledge and experiences worldwide in addressing a global scourge that is asbestos.
